More than twenty members attended the March meeting of the Club to hear Mr. Peter Holden of Springfield Nursery at Blacko demonstrate how a major flower show is organised. He had attended many of the flower shows over the country and discussed the differences in their organisation and the implications for nurseries to exhibit. Members enjoyed a brisk trade in the plants and seeds for sale. Mr. Holden was thanked by Mrs. Maxine Lord.

The business meeting followed when forms were distributed for each of the two trips this summer, one to Levens Hall and Kayes Garden Centre, which had proved to be the most popular choice by members, and an evening to Jacqueline Iddon’s at Bretherton.

Margaret Middleton thanked the tea hostesses, Mrs. Loise Gill and Mrs. Pat Ratcliffe, and reminded members that the speaker at the next meeting on 11 April will be Mr. Peter Foley of Holden Clough Nursery when we will hear about plants for smaller gardens, a subject which will interest all members.
