Bolton-by-Bowland 2006 Awards Presentations
BOLTON-BY-BOWLAND CRICKET CLUB DINNER, 29th September 2004
On Friday 29th September Bolton-by-Bowland Cricket club held their annual dinner and presentation. Held in the Village Hall. After the meal the trophies were presented by Alan Clements, the club scorer and the following trophies were awarded

JOHN THEAKER TROPHY - Outstanding performance in a game that we won: for
outstanding performance scoring 100 against Roundhay - Chris Seed
TONY AND RENE HOLMES TROPHY - Clubman of the Year: His previous reign as chairman and his continuing hard work for the club on keeping the ground as well as it looks means this year’s clubman of the year is Mick Smalley.

KEN WATSON TROPHY - Player’s player: It’s not just for performance on the field but for general contribution to the club in terms of appearances, performance, turning up for nets, paying match fees on time and this year it goes to Chris Billows

YORKE TROPHY - Catch of the Season: repeating last years achievement, to Philip Smalley

BERT ASTLEY TROPHY - Fielding Award: is based on points accrued throughout
the season. Any event is scored out of 10. Philips catch was nine and Martin
Brown got minus eight for looking tired and bored on the boundary. The
award this year goes to probably our best all round cricketer who has a
great future in the game and I quote from a match report. Joe Bunyan’s
fielding was excellent making up for the shortcomings of his Dad whose
see through tight strip in the rain revealed more than was desired to our ‘tea
ladies’.

HODGSON TROPHY - Most improved player:this demonstrates our youth policy because we gave it to Roger Wood last year , goes to a person whose batting, bowling and fielding have all improved but is taste in music still remains poor -and that is Chris Billows.

BOWLING TROPHY - Ryan Kelly for 18 wickets.
BATTING TROPHY Chris Seed
CHAIRMAN’S AWARD -Last year Mick Smalley donated the chairman’s award which gives me the pleasure this year of awarding it to a couple who have been at the heart of the club and indeed the village for many years. The fact that we are all here tonight is due to their special endeavours so it gives me great pleasure to present the chairman’s award to Ann and Colin Darlington.

GEOFF BILLOWS TROPHY - Best mid-week performance: against Grindleton- to Peter Iveson

After the trophies had been presented, Allan Clements gave a bouquet of flowers to the club president, Mrs. Bosonnet. The presentation was followed by much dancing to Pete's Disco
