Bolton-by-Bowland 2004 Awards Presentations

BOLTON-BY-BOWLAND CRICKET CLUB DINNER, 30th October 2004

On Saturday 30th October Bolton-by-Bowland Cricket club held their annual dinner and presentation. Held in the Village Hall. The dinner was prepared by Liz Moorhouse, and a fine dinner it was! After the meal the trophies were presented by Alan Clements, the club scorer and the following trophies were awarded


JOHN THEAKER TROPHY - Outstanding performance in a game that we won: Dave Ashton for his 39 at Waddington, coming in when early wickets had fallen and the run rate was flagging, he put us well on the way to a comfortable finish

TONY AND RENE HOLMES TROPHY - Clubman of the Year: Keith Brunskill - for the endless hours of umpiring

KEN WATSON TROPHY - Player’s player: Simon Reynolds for his tireless bowling against the opposition’s best batsmen and his dependability in playing all the games, even if he arrives late!

YORKE TROPHY - Catch of the Season: John Hill for his caught and bowled against the Court House Casuals. The hard hit ball disappeared into his hand and then into his pocket before the batsman or the umpire had seen what happened!

BERT ASTLEY TROPHY - Fielding Award: Martin Brown for his all round speed in the field and only he could have got under those catches! He does the fielding of 11 men, HE HAS TO! Based on fielding points awarded by Alan Clements.

HODGSON TROPHY - Most improved player: Roger Wood - for his greatly improved performances with bat and gloves.

BOWLING TROPHY - Stephen Booth for 125.1 overs, 19 maidens, 36 wickets for 388 runs at an average of 10.78, only 2 other people had more than 10 wickets and they only had 12 each!

BATTING TROPHY Stephen Booth again! He scored 393 runs at an average of 24.56, with 13 sixes (next best was 3) and 45 fours (next best 33)

CHAIRMAN’S AWARD - Mick Smalley Trophy: Doug Moss - for his tireless work preparing the ground

GEOFF BILLOWS TROPHY - Best mid-week performance: Joe Bunyan

After the trophies had been presented, Mick Smalley gave a bouquet of flowers to the club president, Mrs. Bosonnet. The presentation was followed by much dancing to Nasty Nick’s Disco
