B-by-B  C of E Primary School -
Newsletter dated 27 September 2006
Two PGCE students, Joanne Latham and Anthony Greenwood started a serial placement in the Junior class this week. They will be in school each Wednesday and Thursday until half term. After half term they will do a block placement of two weeks. They will be carrying out observations and helping in class, as well as doing some teaching. We welcome them and wish them well. WRITTEN CALCULATIONS POLICY
Following our Maths meeting for parents during the spring term, we have now produced a policy for progression through written calculations. Please contact school if you would like a copy.
PARENTS EVENING
The first consultation of the school year will take place on Thursday 2nd November from 3.45pm to 6pm. There will be no appointment system as this short meeting is intended to be an informal discussion about how your child has settled into his/her new class/year group, along with any questions or concerns. If you feel that you need a longer consultation please contact school to make an appointment.
PARENT QUESTIONNAIRE 2005/06
The Lancashire assessment team have analysed your responses and arranged your comments under the headings ‘Strengths of the School’, ‘Ways that the school could improve’ and ‘General comments’. Many of the strengths refer to school as small, friendly and caring with well-behaved children. Improvements include more pre-school sessions and more activities after school.
Staff and governors are in the process of discussing and prioritising any actions needed from your comments.
Please contact school if you would like a copy of the report.
This year’s questionnaire will be sent out later this term.
DATA COLLECTION SHEET
Please check the enclosed data collection sheet for your child and amend as appropriate. Please sign and return to school as soon as possible.

Bring and buy in school in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.

TOTAL PERFORMANCE SOCCER
Both classes will be taking part in a football skills session on Friday, weather permitting. Trainers or pumps will be needed.
A reminder that girls with mid length or longer hair must have it tied back for school, for health and safety reasons. This is particularly important for P.E. and swimming lessons.
