At the April meeting a good attendance of members were entertained
by a long-standing friend of the club, Peter Foley of Holden
Clough Nursery, who brought a vast array of plants suitable
for the smaller garden. He explained the merits of each
of the plants and advised on the care and location with
his usual expertise and was thanked by Mrs. Rawlings. Members
were then able to purchase any of the plants which Peter
had described with such enthusiasm.
At the short business meeting
which followed a new member was welcomed and Sally Macalpine
was thanked for producing
the membership cards. Tea hostesses Mrs. Ashworth, Mrs. Corless
and her granddaughter were thanked and members were reminded
that the May meeting is entitled “History and Uses
of Herbs” by Mr. Phil Jones of Tavistock Herbs in Preston.
New members are always welcome. Meetings are held on the
second Wednesday of every month at the Bolton-by-Bowland
village hall, apart from June, July and December.
